EMSY is a binding partner to the breast cancer susceptibility protein, BRCA2, which is involved in double-stranded DNA repair. EMSY is believed to play a role in maintaining genomic stability during M phase. Wang and coworkers used a combined glycoproteomic and phosphoproteomic approach to characterize O-GlcNAcylation and phosphorylation sites on spindle and midbody proteins of cells collected during cytokinesis.
