Angiotensin (1-12) represents a potential precursor for the local production of angiotensins. It is expressed in a wide range of organs and tissues including the small intestine, spleen, liver, kidneys, and heart. Vasoconstrictor and pressor response to intravenous infusion of angiotensin (1-12) are abolished by captopril and by CV-11974, an angiotensin II type I receptor antagonist.
