N-ω-Hydroxy-L-norarginine (or N-ω-Hydroxy-nor-L-arginine) is a most potent reversible inhibitor of arginase. At pH 7.4 nor-NOHA inhibited the rat liver arginase-dependent hydrolysis of H-Arg-OH with an EC₅₀ = 2 ± 0.5 µM and the arginase activity of mouse macrophages with an EC₅₀ value of 50 ± 10 µM.
