Details
This chymotrypsin-sensitive substrate serves as a diagnostic in the exocrine pancreatic function test. By enzymatic cleavage, p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) is released and eventually excreted in the urine. Measurement of the amount of PABA in urine or plasma correlates well with various forms of pancreatic insufficiency and therefore represents a simple and reliable screening test.
