This NS4A peptide was found to be the minimum domain needed to enhance NS3 proteinase mediated proteolysis. Thus, it might be important for the cofactor activity through complex formation with the NS3 proteinase. This interaction could provide an attractive alternative target for the development of specific proteinase inhibitors as clinically viable antiviral agents.
