Neuroendocrine Regulatory Peptides
NERP-1 and NERP-2 are supposed to be novel modulators in body fluid homeostasis. They dose-dependently suppressed vasopressin secretion induced by intracerebroventricular injection of hypertonic sodium chloride or angiotensin II in vivo. NERP-1 and -2 also suppressed basal and angiotensin II-induced vasopressin release from hypothalamic explants in vitro. In the study by Sasaki et al. NERP-1-4 were shown to evoke calcium responses in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus.
