Leptin and Fragments
Leptin, the product of the obese gene (ob), is a hormone secreted by adipocytes. Administration of recombinant mouse leptin in ob/ob mice - homozygous ob mutants suffering from obesity - corrected both overeating and obesity. Moreover leptin reduced the appetite and weight of mice with diet-induced obesity, and caused significant loss of body weight and fat content in lean mice.
