Hirudin Fragments and Analogs
These peptides correspond to the C-terminus of the 65-residue polypeptide hirudin, a potent thrombin inhibitor found in the saliva of the leech Hirudo medicinalis. Treatment of hirudin with carboxypeptidase Y has shown that the last 5 amino acids are essential for its inhibitory activity.
