Adrenomedullin (AM) elicits a potent and longlasting hypotensive effect and is considered as a hormone involved in blood pressure control. Additionally, AM acts as a protective factor of blood vessels.
Adrenomedullin is a potent stimulator of osteoblastic activity. Further biological activities of AM include reduction of oxidative stress and inhibition of endothelial cell apoptosis.
