These peptides are named acetalins (acetylated enkephalins) due to their opioid binding characteristics and the presence of the N-terminal acetyl group. They are opioid receptor ligands with high affinity for µ and K₃ receptors, weak affinity for K₁ receptors and no affinity for K₂ receptors.
