Bone Morphogenic Protein 6

Bone Morphogenic Protein 6 is a member of the TGF-β superfamily of cytokines regulating homeotic gene expression, embryonic development and neurogenesis. BMPs induce bone formation from mesenchymal cells at extraskeletal ectopic sites. BMP6 has been detected outside bone in the nervous system and may be associated with roles in neuronal morphogenesis and maturation and also in synapse formation. The antibody detects BMP6 in rat and human tissue sections.
